After trying out @yalla3abeirut Chicken Shawarma F After trying out @yalla3abeirut Chicken Shawarma Fries yesterday which we enjoyed, they kindly invited us back as I hadn’t introduced myself (I prefer to remain incognito 😂😂) As the eldest was back from uni for the weekend, she wanted to give them a try too…so we went and gave their sandwiches a try (wraps). Gave all 3 a try, lamb, chicken and falafel and they were all really nice. The kids said they would get them again which is high praise from them! The van is there Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday. In a world that just seems like there’s nothing In a world that just seems like there’s nothing but hatred and anger, wars and killing, sometimes little shows of humanity and beauty pop up. I was at the hospital for a check up (I’m ok) and as I was sitting there alone I guess I looked a tad bit miserable…had just had some road rage too where someone had cut me up at a roundabout and almost caused an accident. A young Muslim couple were there too. And as he left to get them some coffee he stopped and asked me if I wanted something. I said no thank you but he still brought back a hot chocolate and insisted I take it as it was a spare (I think it was for himself). I did end up giving it back to him and the only way I got him to take it was telling him I’m a diabetic and it’s not a good idea right now (as felt my sugars were a bit high this morning) so then he offered the coffee! It’s the first time I’ve come across anyone being that kind to a complete stranger and offering to get them a drink. Just made my day and really appreciated their kindness. If only there was more of that around.

Why is it always the holidays when we are sick? M Why is it always the holidays when we are sick? Minu has been unwell since Monday and I’ve not been feeling great either….so half term is a complete wash out. Feeling sorry for Bee who’s stuck at home with us!

Ad gifted In a world where there is a lot of nega Ad gifted In a world where there is a lot of negativity and pressure on children and adults alike….it is important that our children have a sense of identity and are proud and feel blessed about who they are. One book that can help is the new book by @barakah_k_hassan The A-Z of positive affirmations for Muslim Kids Each letter of the alphabet in the book has a positive affirmation such as ‘confident’, ‘protected’, ‘patient’. What I particularly liked is that a name of Allah (swt) is also linked…and at the end of the book the 99 names of Allah are all listed with their meanings. There is also a note from the author on how the book can be used. The illustrations are vibrant and fun, and there are no facial features in the images. A beneficial book that can be read over and over with the children to aid with positive feelings but one that also incorporates our Islamic faith. #muslimmummy #booksformuslims #booksformuslimchildren #islamicbooks #islamicpositivity #raisingmuslims #muslimparenting #islamicpositiveaffirmations
And so a new milestone with my children has been r And so a new milestone with my children has been reached. My eldest is starting her university journey and is away from home…..but will be home most weekends. I know some Muslims may not necessarily agree with uni, and especially letting their children live away from home (in particular girls) and as much as I would have liked her to stay in her own city, from personal experience, living away from home is what made me who I am. It taught me about life and improved my confidence. And frankly she got into a really good uni, while our local one doesn’t have such a good rep in comparison as it’s still very new. All I can do now is make dua these next 3 years go well, she studies hard and continues on the straight path insha’Allah. I have raised her to the best of my abilities and now it’s on her. This one loved the first few days of nursery and n This one loved the first few days of nursery and now she freaks out when left 🤷🏽‍♀️ Did this happen to anyone else? Any tips? My heart broke this morning hearing her cries while I walked to the car 😢 #nursery #nurserystress
A calming picture… But exams and waiting for ex A calming picture… But exams and waiting for exam results can be one of the most stressful times of a young persons life….which can be made even more stressful by the examiners getting the marks wrong. My eldest did extremely well in her results but got rejected by two Russell Group university’s simply due to 4 marks. The disappointment was evident as her teachers were convinced she would get the grades. She then got into another relatively good uni, where I had friends who offered to give her work experience and look out for her if she went there. So it worked out Alhamdulillah. But the fact that it was just 4 marks was troublesome. Her teacher looked at the paper and believed it was fairly marked…but it bothered the eldest so much that she eventually decided to get them remarked even though it cost £180 for 3 papers. And the other unis said they would hold her place while they were remarked. And Alhamdulillah she did the right thing, she got 5 extra marks and then two Russell Group uni’s accepted her. So she then had to decide where to go. Obviously am pleased for her but am so angry she went through all that stress because her papers were marked incorrectly. Not everyone can afford to get papers remarked but I had given her the money I’d saved for her over the years so she had it…and thankfully they will refund it as she went up a grade. If your children ever lose out on a university place/placements by just a few marks…I would highly recommend getting the exam paper remarked if you can afford it. Year 7 for Bee who was a total bundle of nerves and I literally had to kick her out of the car….and then Minu started nursery with a smile and sat down and started playing happily. The nursery spelt her name wrong which I was a bit annoyed about but easily fixed as she doesn’t recognise her name yet anyway. It’s weird…you look forward to the break from them and then when they aren’t at home it feels strange. I was so stressed out at the thought of leaving Minu….to the point of feeling a bit nauseous this morning…..but she gave me a hug and a kiss when I said I was leaving. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Am hoping that lasts and it wasn’t just a one off in sha Allah!! Hope all the children have a brilliant school year! #secondaryschool #nursery #preschool #preschooler
