Now as a Muslim Mummy I don’t celebrate Christmas, which is why I haven’t really mentioned Christmas in any of my blog posts. But one thing I do join in with is the eating of festive chocolate!
Chocolate, even shaped in reindeer and santa is chocolate right? And when I got the opportunity to try out some Hotel Chocolat, well let’s just say there was no way I was going to say no!
(Shhhhh what diet?!)
I hadn’t heard of Hotel Chocolat until fairly recently. I had made a new friend on Facebook and she realised that I was a bit of a chocoholic and recommended I try Hotel Chocolat. I must admit I was slightly shocked by the prices but she assured me that it was worth it….. and she was right.
Once the postie arrived with my chocolate, and you couldn’t miss what it was as it was written on the box, I couldn’t wait to open it. The chocolate was well packaged to help prevent any damage to it. Luckily Munchkin was at school and Bee was asleep so I could open the box in peace!
Sometimes it can be difficult to find luxury chocolate that is suitable for vegetarians and alcohol free, but Hotel Chocolat have catered for this and some of their Christmas chocolate is both alcohol free and suitable for vegetarians. I opted to try the Christmas Goody Bag which retails at £18
In the goody bag you receive 4 different items:
- Cookie & Caramel Wreath
- 6 Christmas Mess Chocolates
- 6 Treacle Tart Chocolates
- Trio of milk chocolate Santa’s
The chocolate Santa’s are individually wrapped so would be ideal as stocking fillers for the kids. They are small and cute! And of course taste lovely. The wreath is detailed and you can really taste the cookies and caramel.
The 6 Christmas Mess Chocolates and 6 Treacle Tart Chocolates look tantalisingly delicious. The ‘Christmas Mess’ is Cranberry Ganache and Strawberry Mousse with meringue sprinkles.I must admit I am not a huge fan of Cranberry so I wasn’t sure I would like these. However, they were pretty sweet and my tastebuds seemed to like them. If you love Cranberry then you are sure to love these. The red colouring runs through each bite size piece, almost making them look too good to eat.
Again, I don’t eat much treacle, but the Treacle Tart chocolates were divine. As described by Hotel Chocolat they are ‘a marriage of molasses and runny caramel crowned with a crunchy shortbread biscuit’. They sound too good to eat too don’t they? And just look at the treacle oozing out in the picture.
It is still not too late to order for Christmas. You can order before 6pm Monday 23rd December for guaranteed delivery before Christmas Day from just £3.95!
Disclaimer: I was sent a Christmas Goody Bag to review. However all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ve never heard of this brand before, but oh my, it looks delicious. Definitley not one for sharing.
Treacle tart chocolates – such a combination can not be missed! Could be one for my Christmas list.
Oh I used to love it when that slim, rectangular package arrived in the post! We would slowly and luxuriously go through the chocolates one by one, savoring them and rating them for texture, taste, appearance… We were to chocolate what Oz Clarke or Jilly Goolden are to wine!
Now we live in Canada where chocolate is completely disappointing *sigh*
I love Hotel Chocolat – hope I get some this year!
It looks quite good Foz!
When it comes to chocolate we don’t need to watch the price really. As long as it is tasty…
Have a lovely day. XX

They have changed the recipe of these treacle tart ones…..I’ve been searching the internet far and wide for some proof of the old ones! SOBSOBSOB.
